http://www.edzone.net/~mwestern/

Marilyn Western is one of Michigan's finest resources for technology professional development.  One visit to her website and you can understand why.
Marilyn Western's Technology Tips for Classroom Teachers is a practical, easy to use website designed for the new and experienced teacher.

On her opening page, there are six main areas highlighted.  There is a handouts section available for elementary, middle school and high school teachers.

For those who want to read about technology, click the articles link for Marilyn’s articles for MACUL (Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning).  Her articles are categorized  under the headings of  Curriculum + Technology,  The www + Education,  The Teacher + Technology and  The Classroom + Technology are available here.  These articles are a good short read.  Check out the article on “One PDA can enhance a classroom teacher’s ongoing planning and scheduling in many ways” and her latest  “Get involved! Solve the problem!

Interactive role playing on the Web.”  The Fun PowerPoints section are collections of fun stuff you can use to download for classroom use as long as credit is given to Marilyn Western.  Check out “Tech 10 Commandments”, “Signs with Unintended Messages” and “Diet for Stress.”  They will certainly give you a chuckle when you need one!

The Tutorials section feature tutorials that are short, easy to use and practical applications for Windows, MS Word,  MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, PPT 2000, PPT XP, Internet Explorer, Creating Web Pages and Netscape.  This is a great section to go to for presentations to students and teachers who are just beginning to use computer technology.

The section that classroom teachers should take a good look at is the Integrating Technology Workshops section.  Although there are only seven areas to go to, behind each link, there are dozens or more resources available.  The sections are:Kid Pix Studio Deluxe Activities,  Inspiration in the Elementary Classroom,  KeeBoo in the Classroom, Using the Internet in an Elementary Classroom, Webquest Workshop and Webquest Collection,  Building a Classroom Web Page Workshop and   New Teacher's Resources.

Spend some time browsing through Marilyn’s site and you’ll quickly learn why Marilyn Western is one of Michigan's finest resources for technology professional development.
