BUILDING A BETTER REPORT CARD (TEACHERS, GR. 4-8)
I hated writing our province’s new report cards. They weren’t much of an improvement over the old report cards. As a parent and as a teacher, I found they didn’t really show parents what their child really did and how they achieved their marks.
I don’t know if this infographic of the report card really exists, but I wish I had one like it when I taught elementary school. It’s close to the one my own students had in high school, without the visual pie charts. My own children also had interim reports every 4 weeks with line graphs of their averages and the class average, and an extensive report on attendance, assignments completed, marks for every assignment weight factors, class average and median. I liked it very much.
I could never understand why we couldn’t have one like it at the elementary level. It gave a much clearer picture of student achievement rather than the reams and reams of educational babble in the comments section which only teachers could understand.

100 COOLEST SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS ON YOUTUBE (TEACHERS, GR. 4-12)
Back in the early 80’s I was assigned to teach science to a Special Ed. seventh grade class. I had never taught science before. Since there was no YouTube and no Internet, I picked up a science textbook and used a lot of these experiments to hook my students into the marvels of science. Now you can see 100 of them on YouTube.
